Menopause Exhaustion: Why Does Everything Feel Like It Requires a Staff Meeting?

At some point menopause stops feeling like “I’m a little tired” and starts feeling like every single task needs a committee, a budget and three business days for approval. 😂

Take a shower? We’ll circle back.

Fold the laundry? Please submit that request in writing.

Answer a text message? I have forwarded your inquiry to the appropriate department and someone will respond within 7–10 business days.

Menopause exhaustion is a whole different flavour of tired.

Why can exhaustion hit so hard during menopause?

There can be a pile-up of factors. Hormonal changes, disrupted sleep, stress, night sweats, mood changes and the mental load of regular life can all overlap.

So sometimes the exhaustion is physical. Sometimes your brain feels like it has 37 browser tabs open and one of them is playing music but you cannot find it. And sometimes it is both, because menopause believes in efficiency. 😂

Physical tired and mental tired are not the same thing

You can have enough muscle power to technically do the thing and still feel like your brain has clocked out.

Decision fatigue is real too. What do you want for dinner? What time is the appointment? Where is the permission slip? Did you answer that email? Why is there a sock on the kitchen counter?

Eventually your nervous system is like, “Ma’am, I have processed enough information for one lifetime.”

That can overlap with menopause brain fog, irritability and poor sleep — which is why these symptoms often feel less like individual problems and more like menopause brought an entire travelling circus.

Why rest does not always feel restorative

Lying on the couch is not necessarily the same thing as feeling restored. If your sleep is broken, your stress stays high or your mind never really powers down, you can spend time resting and still feel completely wrung out.

Which is rude. If I am going to lie horizontally doing absolutely nothing, I expect a return on that investment. 😂

My approach: support the whole system

I’m much more interested in supporting the whole picture than chasing one symptom at a time. Sleep, stress, energy, nutrition and women’s wellness all connect.

My menopause support system is part of my own daily wellness routine, with products I chose because I trust the research and science behind them.

And no, exhaustion is not a personality flaw

Women are incredibly good at continuing to function while absolutely running on fumes.

We will say, “I’m a little tired,” while holding down a job, running a household, remembering everyone’s birthdays, locating objects directly in front of other people and trying not to lose our mind because someone is chewing too loudly.

That is not “a little tired.” That is operating a small nation with 4% battery. 😂
