One of the things I hear all the time from women and clients in menopause groups is: “Where did my libido go?” 😂
Like seriously. It was here. Then menopause showed up with its giant bag of nonsense and apparently decided low sex drive needed to join the party too.
If your sex drive has suddenly packed a tiny suitcase and disappeared during menopause, you are very much not alone. Women talk about this constantly — usually right after saying, “This might be TMI…”
It is not TMI. It is your body. So let’s talk about it.
Why can libido drop during menopause?
There usually is not one single reason. Hormonal changes can affect desire, but so can everything else menopause likes to throw into the mix: poor sleep, stress, mood changes, body-image changes, fatigue, vaginal dryness and pain during sex.
And honestly, if sex starts to feel uncomfortable, your brain may stop putting it high on the priority list. That is not exactly shocking. 😂
Low sex drive is not “all in your head”
Desire is complicated. Hormones matter, but so do energy, relationships, mental load, sleep, medications, stress level and whether your body actually feels comfortable.
So if you are thinking, “I love my partner, but I would also really love to be left alone under this blanket,” congratulations — you may be having a very normal menopause moment. 😆
What if sex hurts?
Menopause can also bring vaginal dryness, irritation and pain during sex — which is exactly why this conversation is bigger than libido alone.
Supporting the whole picture
I use a menopause support routine as part of my own daily wellness because I care about supporting the whole picture: sleep, stress, energy and women’s wellness. The products I choose are backed by research and are part of a broader wellness routine — not a replacement for common sense or personal choice.

Can we please stop whispering about this?
Low libido. Low sex drive. Vaginal dryness. Pain during sex.
There. We said the words and nobody exploded. 😂
The more women talk about what is actually happening during menopause, the less isolating this whole circus becomes.
And yes — we are absolutely talking about dryness, itching and painful sex next.
